The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is a vital agency within the United States Department of Defense (DoD), responsible for providing logistics support to the military services, other government agencies, and partner nations. Established in 1961, the DLA manages the global supply chain for the U.S. military, ensuring that essential items such as fuel, food, clothing, medical supplies, and repair parts are available where and when they are needed.
Headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, the DLA operates worldwide through a network of distribution centers and supply depots. The agency plays a critical role in supporting military operations, humanitarian missions, and disaster relief efforts by maintaining a robust logistics infrastructure that can respond rapidly to changing demands.

Some of the Advantages We Provide
Netlog Facts
With 26 hubs across the country and a scheduled delivery program, we manage Turkey's only fully integrated temperature-controlled cargo delivery network.
With an owned fleet of 1,200 double-deck and multi-temperature trucks and distribution vehicles, we operate the largest temperature-controlled distribution fleet in Turkey.
We manage the daily movement of 360 truckloads of products between our temperature-controlled warehouses.
We provide daily delivery and collection services for chilled, cold, and frozen products to 33,000 locations.
The difficult geographical conditions, complex logistical requirements, and the fact that this operation was destined for one of the world’s most dangerous regions made this project extraordinarily challenging. To meet DLA’s demands, Netlog developed creative and innovative solutions.
Netlog invested $45 million to establish a logistics infrastructure tailored to the region, including 600 refrigerated trailers, 100 container transport vehicles, and 250 tractor units. Over the 13-year service period, Netlog delivered more than 40,000 cold chain food truckloads and 40,000 non-food container transport operations. Thanks to Netlog's multi-modal transport system, the operation was successfully managed with just 250 tractor units, eliminating the need for a fleet of 1,200. This system, known as NDN (Northern Distribution Network), became a pioneering first in the central asian logistics sector. Throughout the operation, a 95% on-time delivery rate was achieved, with security and traceability managed through Netlog’s "CTS" system, which provided 24/7 monitoring. Additionally, Netlog contributed to the local economies by creating over 1,000 jobs for local drivers as part of the project.
Netlog Approach
Solutions Implemented
1
Project Investment
A $45 million investment was made to ensure the seamless execution of operations, including the acquisition of 600 refrigerated trailers, 100 container transport vehicles, and 250 tractor units, all meeting the technical specifications required for this region.
2
Cold Chain Transportation
Over the 12-year service period, more than 40,000 cold chain food shipments were successfully carried out.
3
Container Transportation
The transport of over 40,000 non-food containers in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) category was organized efficiently.
4
Security Management
Deliveries to one of the world’s most challenging regions were completed securely and on schedule. This process was managed through Netlog's "CTS" system, with a 24/7 central monitoring team and border control units. Netlog established control and convoy monitoring teams across five country borders, supported by a dedicated 65-person team for secure transportation management.
5
Support for Local Employment
As part of the project, Netlog provided job opportunities to over 1,000 local drivers to operate its vehicles, supporting local economies and building strong community relationships.
The Defence Logistics Agency (DLA), a branch of the U.S. government, is recognized as one of the largest and most strategic clients in the logistics sector. By 2009, DLA was seeking a reliable logistics partner to ensure the regular and secure delivery of food and hygiene products to 130,000 ISAF troops stationed in Central Asia. This challenging mission required a high level of coordination and expertise. As part of the project, between 100 and 300 truckloads and containers were transported weekly from the U.S. to Turkey’s Mersin and İskenderun ports, followed by a challenging 6-week journey to the destination.
A key aspect of this operation was the transportation of products under strict temperature control, which was crucial for ensuring product quality. Additionally, the logistics operation needed to be executed safely and swiftly, as it involved some of the world's most hazardous regions. Given the complex geography, logistical challenges, and regional risks involved, the success of this operation demanded a logistics provider capable of creative and adaptive solutions.
